A manager can only escalate an issue so far. Above that point, they are dependent on someone else's clearance, budget, or attention. When that clearance does not come, and often it does not, the pressure has nowhere to go except back down onto the manager themselves, and eventually onto their team. That is the real starting point for most manager burnout prevention strategies worth taking seriously, and it is very different from telling someone to protect their evenings.
